Assessment and mapping of cultural ecosystem services in landscape

There is an increasing demand for a better understanding of social dimension of benefits, provided by nature and its ecosystems to society. The project will use traditional sociological methods as well as novel multidisciplinary approaches to assess and map cultural ecosystem services (e.g. aesthetics, recreation, symbolic/spiritual value, education) perceived by visitors of selected research locations in landscape and therefore contribute to their appropriate formulation. The results will bring a deeper understanding of a relatively under-researched phenomenon of cultural benefits of ecosystems and will help to emphasize certain important aspects in the relationship between society and nature.

Project is supported by the Technological Agency of the Czech Republic - ETA Programme for Applied Research, Experimental Development and Innovation in Social Sciences and Humanities. Duration of project: 2/2019 - 12/2022. Principal investigator Jan Danek.
