Conference of the European Society for Ecological Economics

The 12th conference of the European Society for Ecological Economics with the following theme: “Ecological Economics in action: building a reflective and inclusive community” has taken place from 20 – 23 June 2017 in the beautiful city of Budapest, Hungary. The topic of ecosystem services proved its important role and was represented by many parallel sessions and keynote presentations. Watch the presentations of keynote speakers at the ESEE 2017 Youtube channel.

Our team member Ioanna Grammatikopoulou participated in the session “Ecosystem services: complexity, financialisation, trade-offs, valuation” with a presentation of an ongoing research focused on “Integrating biophysical data into agricultural production function to elicit the value of green water ecosystem service”. A nearly full lecture room and a fruitful discussion proved this topic to be very interesting across various disciplines and backgrounds.

Two days before the conference a summer school took place in the same venue with the following theme: “IMPACT: Approaches and Tools for Enhancing the Social and Policy Impact of Your Research”. Our newest team member Jan (Honza) Daněk participated with his student poster presenting an ongoing research focused on “Ecosystem services in environmental policy and decision-making in the Czech Republic”. During the conference, you could see the poster at the Student poster sessions. Furthermore, the organizers were recording the whole summer school so you can have a short glimpse into the atmosphere in this Youtube video.
