Ecosystem services

In the framework of research and applications, we deal with issues of ecosystem services and their use to support the decision-making and assessment of the trade-offs among different human society demands on ecosystems. We develop methodological approaches for integrated ecosystem services assessment approaches, including modeling and mapping of capacity, supply and use of ecosystem services. We are actively involved in international initiatives on ecosystem services, including, for example, the Ecosystem Services Partnership where we participate in the activities of several thematic working groups, or IPBES processes. In addition to developing integrated and politically relevant assessments of ecosystem services, we are developing procedures for assessing vulnerabilities and threats to ecosystem services in the light of anthropogenic ecosystem requirements and global change. We are working with scenarios, economic valuation and ecosystem accounting.
